Come Out and Try Field Lacrosse!

The fields have dried up and we are pleased to announce that the Rebels will be hosting field lacrosse drop in clinics on Sunday nights from May 15th (this Sunday) to the end of June at the field behind the JRC. NO FEEs!

There has been a growing interest in the Fort over the past couple of years in the field style of the game with several Rebels' players competing with the Edmonton Razorback program. If interest supports it, we may have Fort Saskatchewan teams at the Novice, Pee Wee and Bantam levels this year. For now just come out and try it. The rules are slightly different but it is a great way to get out and enjoy the sun!

The rules for girls' field lacrosse are also different. If we get the numbers, we will split the girls off to work on their style of play.

Times:

Novice and under: 6pm to 7pm

Pee Wee and older: 7 pm to 9pm

All specialized equipment will be there to try. Just bring a regular lacrosse stick, gloves and a helmet.

Please contact, Dave McGarva at dave@mcgarva.ca if you have any questions.

Minor Lacrosse Continues Rapid Growth

Fort Saskatchewan Rebels Lacrosse continues its record pace for participation.

Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, April 10, 2011 (FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE) –The Fort Saskatchewan Rebels Lacrosse club is continuing to enjoy unprecedented interest in the sport. Boasting a 65% increase in registration since 2009 and the top Facebook membership of any association in the province, lacrosse has moved from a niche sport to the main stream in the City.

As of April 8th, more than 280 children have registered across eleven divisions, from mini-tyke to Junior B. “It is refreshing to see that interest is growing, especially in non-traditional areas such as the girls divisions and junior,” says Rebels’ President Kent Proctor. "Our girls numbers have exploded! This year we are going to be able to fill league teams in Girls’ Novice, Pee Wee and Bantam." Based on these numbers, the Rebels have registered an unprecedented 21 teams into play in the Greater Edmonton Lacrosse Council (GELC) league.

“We really are the envy of the league right now, most clubs have levelled off in terms of participation, but the Rebels and the Parkland Posse continue to grow at an impressive pace.”  adds Kevin Parker, club Vice-President. “We are the only club in the GELC that will be fielding both Junior B Tier 1 and Tier 2 clubs. We had another really active winter of drop-in sessions (Monday’s at DCC) where we have had more than 100 participants most nights.” continues Parker.
